The masquerade who was arrested alongside his pathfinders over the killing of an Islamic cleric in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Capital, is to be arraigned for murder.
The Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, made this known on Tuesday while speaking with journalists in Abeokuta,
The suspects are still in police custody and are accused of killing one Lateef Sabiu, 22, on Sunday during a masquerade procession. The victim was shot while riding on a motorcycle.

“It is a case of murder and all the suspects including the masquerade are to be charged to court for murder as soon as investigation is completed,” Mr. Adejobi said.
He said the police will not ‘sweep the case under the carpet’ and that the police have ordered the suspension of all masquerade festivals in Ijaiye community, where the killing took place.
The police spokesperson said it was illegal for a masquerade and its followers to carry guns and other ammunition during a festival, stressing that the police had stopped issuing licenses for guns for such events a long time ago.
Mr. Adejobi said “there is embargo on issuance of licence for guns,” and that anyone caught with an unlicenced gun(s) will be dealt with according to law.
He said people can only apply and carry a gun license when the embargo is lifted
