THE BOKO HARAM CRISIS: 'KILLING PEOPLE WITHOUT ASKING WHO THEY ARE'-

Benedicte Kurzen for The New York Times

Nigerians gathered to register as refugees in Bosso, Niger. Some said the Nigerian Army had been killing civilians in its battle against insurgents.

Benedicte Kurzen for The New York Times
Laminou Lawan, a student, said Nigerian soldiers had been attacking young men just because they wore traditional robes.

“As soon as they see you with clothing like this, they shoot,” said Abukar Ari, a Koranic teacher in a long robe who said he had fled across the border from Nigeria two weeks before. “They don’t ask any questions. I’ve seen them shoot people. Yes, I’ve seen them shoot.”
Other refugees in the registration lines of thousands who had fled Nigeria’s combat zone echoed these assertions, saying civilians were being killed there by soldiers unconcerned with the distinction between militants and innocents. Friends and neighbors were being shot, they said; young men were being rounded up at night; and citizens with the vertical ethnic scarring of the Kanuri, a group dominant in the Islamist militant group Boko Haram, were being taken away.

A Chicago woman brutally raped on a stairwell in broad daylight has spoken out in a bid to catch her attacker.
Alexandra Clarke has bravely waived her right to anonymity in the hope the man — whom she thinks is a serial sex offender — will be busted.
The 22-year-old was listening to music on her iPhone as she waited for a bus at a busy intersection when he sat down beside her.
“He was sitting there for about 30 seconds to a minute. All of sudden he grabbed my throat, he said, “You are going to take a walk with me,” she told ABC.

Shocked and confused — because it was 2 p.m. in the afternoon — he threatened to kill her as she was dragged into an alley and raped on a stairwell.
She tried to dial 911 but he tossed her cell phone away. He then stole her wallet and fled the scene.
“I didn’t scream, I didn’t yell, I didn’t try to run, I didn’t think of any of that. I was mostly in shock it was not only happening, but at 2 on a busy street,” Clarke added.
Dazed, she walked to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Her family has now put up a $5,000 reward for the brute’s capture and conviction.

“Our attention has been drawn to the libelous story posted on your website” CBN writes Premium Times on Sanusi Lamido Sanusi story

The Central Bank of Nigeria wrote to Premium Times concerning a story it published on the Central Bank Governor alleging adultery. The letter was dated 3rd of June but it appears the organisation is not open to publishing the CBN’s side of the story. The Bank also went ahead to attach relevant documents to the letter (find attached in this post) to prove their point but it was all futile as Premium Times chose not to publish their side of the story. This is the letter below unedited.

Our attention has been drawn to the libelous story posted on your website on 2nd June, 2013, on the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and which has now been circulated by other online websites and blogging groups.
The post was full of fabrication and inaccuracies. Ordinarily this would have been best ignored. We are however constrained to write to you on account of the severe implications of the allegations for the integrity of the CBN, as an institution.
It is also important to reaffirm our long-standing commitment to due process and international best practice in the discharge of every aspect of our statutory mandate.

HE DOESN'T WANT A COURT WEDDING

I have been dating this guy and the whole wedding preparation is in full gear, but another side of him is showing now. The bone of contention here is that I want a court wedding and he saying we won't have one. Fine, what are your reasons? I asked him. And he said because he's human and if he impregnates someone else, that means the child won't have a right to his property.

In fact I was shocked and dumbfounded by his reason as I don't think he ever puts me into consideration. My family is richer than his so which property am I coming after? I'm so confused right now and i have been asking myself if he truly loves me.

Do i go ahead with our marriage plans or should i tell my parents to put a stop to our marriage planning preparations? Does he care about me? Will my agreeing not to have a court wedding put my future at stake as it seems I won't be a priority even as his wife? Please its very urgent. Wedding day approaching, need to make a decision fast. Please I don't want to make a mistake because I don't have much experience relationship wise.

BOUNTY HUNTERS ALERT: US OFFERS $7M FOR THE CAPTURE OF ABUBAKAR SHEKAU, BOKO HARAM LEADER

The US which has been hesitant to declare Boko Haram a foreign terrorist organisation, has set in motion a massive manhunt for the terrorist leaders, who have spread insecurity across Nigeria and the West African region.
US Embassy officials say that while they await clarification from Washington on the exact details, they would not rule out the possibility of a US-led manhunt which is growing impatient with activities of the Islamic militants in West Africa.
The US already has a surveillance drone base in Niger Republic.

DANA AIR CRASH; REMEMBERING THE VICTIMS & THE FAMILIES WHO LIVE WITH THE MEMORY EVERYDAY OF THEIR LIVES

Dana crash cenotaph above

One year later, the families are yet to be compensated by Dana for the loss of their loved ones. This is a sobering reminder of the apathy and total incompetence of our government, save the Lagos State government of course. They are doing an excellent job at governing the people. The victims' family members were full of praise for Governor Fashola.
Chizoba Mojekwu, whose sister was aboard the ill-fated flight, said that attending the memorial was “difficult” for her because she is standing at the place where “it happened.”
“I’ve been living a life that maybe my sister was on holiday,” said Ms. Mojekwu, Director of Human Resources at the Central Bank of Nigeria, who also lost eight colleagues to the crash.
“They say time heals all wounds. Sometimes I believe that because I’ve lost my mum and for 14 years we still feel some of that pain.
“But this is very raw and we are still grieving,” Ms. Mojekwu added.
Ms. Mojekwu called on aviation authorities to take steps to forestall a recurrence of the incident.
“There is still much to do. Issues of what really happened to this flight remain unanswered,” Ms. Mojekwu said.

So Premium Times Nigeria is reporting a story claiming that Sanusi Lamido, CBN (Central Bank of Nigeria) Governor has a love Mistress! Here's how they report it...READ BELOW

Twenty minutes to midnight on February 25, 2013, and a day before the board of the Central Bank of Nigeria was due to meet, Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi developed a craving for romance—he badly needed a kiss.
The governor, married, with children, grabbed his mobile phone and typed out a message. “Maybe you should come kiss me before board meeting tomorrow,” Mr. Sanusi wrote and then squeezed the send button.
At about 9 a.m. the next day, Mrs. Maryam Yaro, a married mother of two, an assistant director and subordinate to the governor at the CBN, arrived at Sanusi’s unnamed Abuja hotel, seeking to keep the date and help address her boss’ craving for a kiss. (Insiders say board members, including those who live in Abuja, are usually lodged in hotels ahead of board meetings).

ANGELINA JOLIE; AFTER MASTECTOMY

In her first red carpet appearance since announcing she underwent a double mastectomy, Angelina Jolie posed for pics with hubby Brad Pitt at the London premiere of his movie "World War Z."

In an op-ed piece for the New York Times last month, Jolie revealed she underwent a preventative double mastectomy back in February because "doctors estimated that I had an 87 percent risk of breast cancer and a 50 percent risk of ovarian cancer."

Since making the announcement, Jolie has been recovering at home in Los Angeles before taking on her next project -- directing a film called "Unbroken."
